YouTuber Shane Dawson has been creating content for over a decade now and his problematic past is finally catching up to him.

With everyone home during the pandemic, more and more content creators are getting canceled. Why? It’s hard to say but it seems like everybody now has the time to rewatch old videos where these creators have been making some insensitive and problematic jokes. Call-out culture is taking place. People are calling out their favorite YouTubers and demanding accountability.

As of late, Dawson has been called out for several questionable acts seen in his old videos. People want him to apologize for using the n-word, wearing blackface, and making jokes around pedophilia.

Following the #MeToo movement, more and more survivors of sexual assault have felt the courage to speak up about their personal experiences. One anonymous Twitter user has recently come forward to share her story, claiming that Canadian pop star Justin Bieber sexually assaulted her in 2014. However, the Intentions singer has come forward with a series of tweets denying the incident. In fact, based on his timeline, he’s claiming that the events are “factually impossible.”

The woman, who goes by the name Danielle, tweeted from an anonymous account @danielleglvn  Saturday night. The account was removed from Twitter shortly after Bieber publicly commented on the situation. According to Danielle, the incident allegedly took place at a hotel in Austin, Texas, on March 9, 2014. But Justin Bieber has refuted allegations that he sexually assaulted her—and he has the receipts to prove it.

The original tweets have been removed from the micro-blogging site. Fortunately, PopCrave has reposted the photo series:

Bieber quickly refuted these claims, providing his Twitter followers a series of articles, emails, and receipts as evidence that this incident is “factually impossible.”

— The Sweet (@SPSweetBand) June 4, 2020 Andy Scott, the last surviving member of the Sweet, has also shared a statement on The Sweet’s Facebook page. In the statement, he calls Priest the “best bass player [he has] ever played with.”
“Then there was one! I am in pieces right now. Steve Priest has passed away. His wife Maureen and I have kept in contact and though his health was failing I never envisaged this moment. Never. My thoughts are with his family x. He was the best bass player I ever played with. The noise we made as a band was so powerful. Elon Musk and Grimes have welcomed a new life into the world! Whilst coming into the world with open arms, the child has already begun learning the harsh realities of the Internet—trolls.

After Musk revealed to the Twitterverse that the baby’s name will allegedly be X Æ A-12, members online have been spreading glorious memes around the interesting name choice. Musk has a tendency to troll his followers so we’re sure he can take the heat. In fact, considering that Musk tweeted the baby name, can we really even trust that?

For now, it looks like people are going to run with it at the expense of a newborn child. Given the peculiar name choice and Musk’s career as the head honcho of SpaceX and Tesla, there have been a ton of memes insinuating that this baby may not even be human. It’s basically some sort of robot alien type thing. We’re not saying it is or it isn’t, but we are enjoying the memes that people have been created revolving around the exciting news.

X Æ A-12 Memes

While the coronavirus pandemic continues and we’re all forced to quarantine in the privacy of our own homes, please enjoy a few of our favorite X Æ A-12 memes:

Keep in mind that this is all in good fun. The world is excited for the arrival of this child—especially during a time like this. And while some people may suspect that X Æ A-12 Musk could be an alien or robot, we’re here to put that rumor to rest. Check out this photo that proves that X Æ A-12 is in fact, a real human baby:

Fashion firm J Crew has filed for bankruptcy protection, making it the first big US retailer to do so amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The retailer announced that its parent company, Chinos Holdings, had filed for Chapter 11 protection in federal bankruptcy court for the Eastern District of Virginia. It is the first major retailer to fall during the coronavirus pandemic, but given the economic situation in the United States, J Crew probably won’t be the last.

Under the terms of the Transaction Support Agreement (“TSA”), the Company’s lenders will convert approximately $1.65 billion of the Company’s debt into equity. They are also providing about $400m of fresh financing to keep J Crew’s operations afloat.

“This agreement with our lenders represents a critical milestone in the ongoing process to transform our business with the goal of driving long-term, sustainable growth for J.Crew and further enhancing Madewell’s growth momentum,” said Jan Singer, Chief Executive Officer, J.Crew Group in the statement. “Throughout this process, we will continue to provide our customers with the exceptional merchandise and service they expect from us, and we will continue all day-to-day operations, albeit under these extraordinary COVID-19-related circumstances. As we look to reopen our stores as quickly and safely as possible, this comprehensive financial restructuring should enable our business and brands to thrive for years to come.”

Next Steps

The Company has filed a series of customary “first day” motions with the Bankruptcy Court seeking to maintain its operations during the restructuring process to help facilitate a smooth transition into Chapter 11. Its 500 stores have been closed by the pandemic and some will not reopen.

Could it be true? Are aliens actually real? The Department of Defense has officially released three declassified videos showing Navy pilots interacting with “unidentified aerial phenomena.”

On April 27th, 2020, the Department of Defense released an online statement regarding the release of three historical navy videos.  According to the statement, one of the videos was taken in November 2004 and the other two took place in January 2015.

“DOD is releasing the videos in order to clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real, or whether or not there is more to the videos. The aerial phenomena observed in the videos remain characterized as “unidentified.””

Is this proof of aliens?

So basically unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Aliens confirmed? Take a look for yourself. Check out the video below.

The full broadcast ended up lasting a little over eight hours and is now available on YouTube. The star-studded line-up featured dozens of celebrities around the globe, allowing viewers to see a home performance from artists like Alanis Morissette, Billie Eilish, Finneas, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Charlie Puth, David Beckham, John Legend, Kacey Musgraves, Lizzo, Maluma, Paul McCartney, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Taylor Swift, Stevie Wonder, and a whole lot more.

By the end of the televised event, the broadcast raised over $127.9 million towards the cause. However, as of writing, the COVID-19 Response Fund total now sits at $194.6 million!

According to the event’s website, the money will be going towards frontline workers and vaccine development:

“The World Health Organization (WHO) is leading and coordinating the global effort with a range of partners, supporting countries to prevent, detect, and respond to the pandemic. Donations support WHO’s work, including with partners, to track and understand the spread of the virus; to ensure patients get the care they need and frontline workers get essential supplies and information; and to accelerate research and development of a vaccine and treatments for all who need them.”

On Monday, March 16, London-based artist Yungblud live streamed one of his shows as a way to give back to international fans.

Yungblud used tech to give back to fans

As a way to flatten the curve of infection, concerts and festivals all over the world have been cancelled and postponed as a way to flatten the curve of infection. Fortunately for Yungblud fans, the singer live streamed his Los Angeles show for anyone that is unable to attend his “Shit’s Weird Keep Calm and Carry On” tour.

The show went live at 7 am PST on his YouTube channel. It gave viewers over an hour of entertainment. In addition to the concert, the stream featured cameos from other notable artists including Machine Gun Kelly, Bella Thorne and Oliver Tree.

The singer, real name Dominic Richard Harrison, said in a statement:

“The world is in a very weird time at the moment. Everyone doesn’t know what to do or where to turn. It’s like we are all trapped in a glass or perspex box whilst someone is playing a trick on us. My shows were getting cancelled left right and centre.  I miss the energy, I miss the connection, I miss my fans and family. We need each other more than ever right now and having the opportunity to interact with them taken away from me fully wasn’t even an option for me!”

Tweets from the Twitterverse

The show was an opportunity to experience a concert whilst remaining in quarantine—especially during a time where it’s considered socially irresponsible to leave your house. It was apparent on Twitter, Yungblud fans were loving it.

https://twitter.com/taylor_tide0/status/1239569964782108672

The artist and his team felt it was necessary to cancel the Asia leg of the tour due to coronavirus concerns. Fortunately, any tickets purchased for shows in South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Singapore will be cancelled and refunded.
